Rayong is a rich province in the East of Thailand. It has beautiful beaches, fruit orchards, para rubber plots and industries The longest and most beautiful beach is Mae Ramphueng. A serious environmental problem of the beach is shown in the end.
Fruits
The famous fruits of Rayong are mangoes, durians, rambutans, mangosteens, salaks, long kong (a kind of Lanzones), and much more. The season when fruits ply in the markets is from March to June.
A friend bought a famous 'golden pillow' durian.
A long time French friend was looking at the rambutans (red fruits with green hairs!)
Flowers
The bunches of white flowers bloom in November. The blossoms and sweet fragrance really touch our hearts. You can see and smell them everywhere in Banpae sub-district. (a kind of Apocynaceae)
The sea - morning glory greats you on the beaches from morning till afternoon. (Ipomoea pes-caprae)
Mae Ramphueng beach
Mae Ramphueng beach in Rayong - Muang district stretches over 12 km from East (Khao Lam Ya National Park) to West. The West half is in Tapong sub-district, and the East half is in Ban Pae sub-district.Mae Ramphung beach is long, large and white. You can take a walk, take a rest or go swimming. European visitors, especially the Scandinavians, enjoy relaxing vacations here around November till February next.
The beach road gives convenient access to this public beach. Casuarinas are grown along the road.
A closer look to the calm beach.
The farthest sight is the famous Samed island.
A friend took a walking exercise along the beach, during an up tide.
A nice plant bearing fruits along the beach. (Hala or Bacua)
And, when the sun sets.
Environment on Mae Ramphueng Beach!!!
The beautiful and famous Mae Rumphueng beach sadly has environmental problems.
Many thanks to the SCG Chemicals that has helped to clean up and develop the beach.
The west of the beach, in Tapong sub-district side, has long rows of shops and restaurants. For example, a restaurant operates just next to an official park coordination office!
I was shocked about a Sustainable Development project of Mae Ramphueng Beach, managed by the Rayong Provincial Organisation!!
Kilometers of concrete constructions right on the beautiful beach got started in 2011. These pictures were taken in July 2011.
The constructions have advanced quickly.
Most of them have been completed by April 2012.
And, business and pollution have started right on the beach!!

The above photos were taken during the last half of 2011 and the first half 2012.
The next story is about Mae Ramphueng beach (higher views), and an interesting local food market in Ban Pae, near the piers to koh Samed. (photos taken during April 2012)
